Broken dreams,Twisted Vows (Episode -1)

Broken dreams,Twisted Vows By Maher Hayat

Episode -1 Eyes that froze my dream

The spotlight lit the stage like a promise. As the soulful rhythm
of the ghungroos echoed in the auditorium, Surmidhi moved
with grace — each step, each expression, narrating a story
carved from her soul. The crowd was mesmerized, breathless,
drawn into the magic of her classical dance.

But suddenly—

A cold voice shattered the silence.
“Disqualified.”
The mic echoed the word like a slap in the air.
She froze. Her feet stilled mid-spin, eyes widening in disbelief.
What…?

A man stood up from the judging panel — tall, dressed in a
sharp black suit, sunglasses hiding his eyes even indoors. He
didn’t even glance at her again. Just walked away, leaving
silence, shock… and humiliation.

The hall buzzed with murmurs. Some gasped. Some watched,
confused. But all she could hear was the one word that crushed
her dreams in seconds: Disqualified.

> It wasn’t just a word. It was the shattering of everything I had
worked for.

“Wait—sir! What did I do wrong? Please tell me!” she tried
asking the event manager.

No answer. Just silence and avoidance.

And just like that, the competition ended. The audience

dispersed. Her dream was dismissed without explanation.

Meanwhile…

Inside a grand heritage mansion, footsteps echoed up the
marble stairs.

“Aryan! Aryan son, where are you going?” an older woman
called out from the hallway.

It was Narmada Rathore — Aryan’s aunt. With her regal looks,
sharp tongue, and self-proclaimed authority over the Rathore
Mansion, she treated it like her own empire.

But Aryan didn’t reply. He continued climbing the stairs.

His mother’s voice stopped him. “Aru, dinner is ready, beta.”

“I’m not hungry,” he said coldly, without turning back. His voice
was detached — like he’d locked something deep inside — and
he walked into his room, shutting the door on all questions.

> She dances like her…

Back in the city, someone was pacing anxiously.

“Sumi! Finally! I’ve been looking everywhere for you!”

Surmidhi looked up to see her best friend, Vani, rushing toward
her with a box of sweets.

Vani’s eyes sparkled. “Look what I got for you! Kaju katli, your
favorite! I know you nailed that performance. I’m already
celebrating your win—”

But Surmidhi’s expression made her pause.

“What happened, Sumi? Why do you look like that? You’re
scaring me…”
“They disqualified me,” Surmidhi said, voice trembling.
“What?! Who? Who was the donkey man ?!” Vani snapped, her
voice rising with anger.

Surmidhi’s eyes welled up. “I don’t know. I didn’t even make a
mistake. That man in black sunglasses… he didn’t let me finish.
He humiliated me in front of everyone.”

“That jerk!” Vani fumed. “Tell me his name, I’ll twist his nose
and shove his shades down his throat! How dare he make my
best friend cry?!”
But even in anger, Vani’s arms wrapped around her
protectively.
“We’ll find another stage, Sumi. We’ll go for another audition.
One day, you’ll shine so bright even that man will regret what
he did.”

Elsewhere, at a small but warm home…

“Aditya! Put the light fast !” a woman yelled from the kitchen.
“yes mom, I will do it !”

Aditya stood on a chair, fiddling with a faulty light bulb, test kit
in hand. His sleeves were rolled up, hair messy, and a soft smile
on his lips despite his mother’s constant scolding.

Finally fixing the light, he stepped down and turned — just in
time to see Surmidhi walk in through the gate.

“Sumi! Welcome home! We were waiting for you!” he called
cheerfully.

Aditya — her cousin and close friend — had always been the
calming presence in her life. With his soft curls, honey-brown
skin, and charming smile, he was every college girl’s favorite
professor… except for Sumi, to whom he was just her Adi
brother.

She tried to smile back, telling herself that maybe this was just
a bad day. That things would get better.

But deep down, a storm had begun to brew.

> Because what happened on that stage… wasn’t just about a
disqualification.
It was just the beginning.

Who was the man that crushed Surmidhi’s dream with one cold
command?
Why did he do it — and what past was he hiding?
And how will Surmidhi face the world… and him… again?

To be continued…
